Painting Truck cap

Anyone ever had their truck cap painted for a new truck? I kept my

Leer 122 high rise fiberglass from the 01 since it is in awesome shape

and I cannot see putting another 1300 bucks, probably more into

a replacement. I was going to leave it as pewter doesn't look to bad on

Fire red, but just couldn't bring myself to leave it pewter.

Talked to a local body shop and they said 4-500 and they could not

guarantee it would look good in two years.

I called my leer dealer and he said for 315. he would send it back

to the manufacturer in pennsylvania and they would repaint it and bake it on an gel it. Good as original finish. I am going to try it out. Drop it off tomorrow.

My cap is a '00 Leer. When it came in the paint was not very good. It was sent back to Leer and they redid it and it has looked great ever since.

Let us know how it goes. I need a topper for my truck and see used ones, but as expected, never the right color. Love to get a good one at a discount. Didn't know sending it back to the factory to repaint was an option.

I didn't know it was an option either. Dropped it off yesterday.

the truck should pick it up this week and I should see it back in 2-3 weeks

from the day I dropped it off. Sure is weird driving a truck without a cap. Seems

naked and I feel exposed

Chevy dealer who has his own autobady said it would be a $300 TO PAINT A LEER alum. Cap.

I had a Silver truck so silver cap now have a green and grey truck I do not if I should paint as scraches will show. I use the truck for work.

Also I do not know if I have time to leave it for a couple of day to get painted
