Hey guys,

I have an '04 silverado w/ onstar and XM radio. I purchased a 6 in dash cd player from E-bay. Its in perfect shape. But, when I plug it up to my truck it does nothing!! Doesnt even light up. Whats the deal is it locked or what do I do? Somebody help me, payed $300 for this thing.

If you bought it on Ebay, then it won't work in your truck without a trip to the dealer. Every radio is coded to the VIN. Apparently they are "tuned" to the different vehicle configurations and their sound characteristics. Don't know if that is true or not, but that's what I've read at GM Techlink.

A dealer with a Tech II should be able to get it set for you.......for a price of course!

Oh, but I figured it would at least come on and say locked or something. Its just blank. I can hear it power up though. Anybody got any more input.

you got ripped off by some ebay scammer? did the auction say AS IS? I would goto the dealership and get it checked out. also with the 6 in dash changer, did you lose XM radio?

Maybe you bought a 1999-2002 radio and you tried to shove it into your 2003 which wouldnt work because the wireing is different.....

Check the connectors. It could be they weren't connected all the way and it isn't getting power. It should come on. If the radio was ever programmed into a previous vehicle, it would come on as LOC. If it shows CAL, that means that it has to be calibrated to your truck. Otherwise, you got screwed.

Nope, I got ripped. The wiring is different. The build date on it is like 2000 or so. d**n!!!!

Still good for a 99-02 truck or car. put it up for sale and I bet someone will want it seriously. :D

I have a 2004 silverado 2500 LT with a casette / cd player and am exchanging it for a 6 disc now

I was quoted 495.00 for a NEW radio with a 225.00 credit for my take out

so it will cost me 270.00 with free shipping

I talked to Ron at 877-888-2225

Hey JimAC, I have an 2004 silverado that came with the Bose system that has AM/FM, indash 6 CD player, no cassette player and no XM satelite. What I want is Bose system AM/FM indash CD player with XM radio. Is this what your wanting too? I heard I have to stay with the Bose system or change all my speakers which I don't want to do.

Frank-

You can add the XM if that is what you wish with the system you currently have. An adaptor and a Pioneer XM receiver is all it takes. If you have the 6-disc, it is XM "ready". I have the single disc and it is also XM ready if I choose.

In my 2003 silverado I changed out my bose cd/cass for a 6 disc, (I have steering wheel controls, and onstat, but no xm...yet)

I installed it, but had to have GM program my truck to work woth the new radio (I think any 2003+ will need this done) my dealer charged me $108 to program.. They ripped me off, I will not be going there again. I hear the going rate to program is $50-$75.
