I've been wanting to sell stuff on ebay and accept paypal as a form of payment, but I'm leery of it with all the stories I've heard-(if the buyer get's the item, and they say they don't like it they can file with paypal and paypal will take it out of your account whether right or wrong and then your screwed. Or somehow paypal will lock your bank account so you can't use it until they unlock it which some people have complained has lasted a month or longer.., worrying about them having you checking accound info..) Then again obviously many sellers use it all the time. If any one on here has experiences with paypal and ebay on here please lend me your thoughts. Thanks

I have sold and bought through PayPal for about two years and have had no problems. I cannot EVEN dare answer all your what-if scenarios, though. I'll leave that to someone else. But, I have never had any difficulties. I have sold items as high as $980 to as low as $8.00. Likewise, I have purchased about the same amount. Absolutely no problems.

Note that the news media will concentrate only on the negative....

I"ve used paypal for many transactions with no problems.

One thing I did, I opened an additional savings account at my bank and registered that with paypal. I only keep a few dollars in it in case some loose nut at paypal tries to wipe me clean

If using PayPal to accept payment, always ship your items out with a tracking # and retain it in your records just incase there is a dispute.

I have yet to have the need or desire to buy or sell anything on ebay. It seems like doing business in the wild west or in Russia. I seem to hear about another ebay scam weekly.

I know there are good people providing useful goods on ebay. A buddy of mine buys up old pbx phones in bulk from companies, cleans them up, and sells them 1-5 at a time to companies who need additional extensions and have no other sources for phones that work with their older pbx units. My neighbors custom-finish furniture, photograph the pieces in different gardens on their property, and sell more in ebay than they do in their brick-and-morter store. Then there's my ex - she buys sh*t on sale from Wal-Mart and resells it on ebay like it's something special.

With a cash balance of $3.50 I don't have to worry.
