2002 Silverado 1500 Dash and Radio light issues

Hello,

I’ve got a stock ’02 1500 with some strange lighting issues affecting my dash gauges and radio. Every time I turn the key, it’s basically a gamble whether the lights will come on.

The good news is that my shifter lights and the message center lights always work, and my headlights and interior lights are fine too. It’s just the dash gauge lighting and radio backlighting that act up.

I should also mention that I recently replaced the battery, and that didn’t fix anything. I also can’t seem to find any blown fuses.

known problem in that generation of trucks, a diode shorts out in the wiper motor that causes the problem
