Factory Foglights installed

Purchased a set of factory fog lights off ebay from a dealer in oregon. Well they showed up on the door today when i got home.. 45 minutes they were installed, and working. Some say you have to program the bcm to reconginze it, luckily i didnt have to. Maybe its because of the LS model.. but who really knows. Anyways the only suggestion i can make, is use a dremel tool, or just buy a new lower valance with the holes already cut out.. It can be tricky. Other than that, they look great. Well worth the money (which was actually cheaper than ordering the truck with it) but wholey crap.. i didnt realize how large each light really is until i pulled them from the box.

If anyone is considering doing this.. i strongly recommend it. Now i just have to wait til the sun goes down so i can easily adjust them to the right height. If i can find the cable for my Digital, i will take a few pics.

I installed mine tonight after I picked them up at the dealer, and it was a breeze. I used a Rotozip and cut out the holes in the lower air dam...very simple. And like you, I didn't have to get the BCM changed as the fog lights worked immediately after installation. Anyone wanting to do this can do so without alot of hassle as the instructions walk you right through it. Mechanical ability to do this on a scale from 1 to 10 (with 1 being able to use a screwdriver and 10 being able to tear down a Cat diesel and put it back together) is about a 2.

Some of you may wonder why I'd spring for the factory fogs versus buying some other bigger, brighter ones. Well, I drive the mountain passes alot and have found during heavy snow, if you turn your headlights off and have only your fogs/parking lights on, that you can see alot easier with less fatigue on the eyes. You don't get the glare of the headlights shining off the snow coming down thus it's alot easier to see the road. I've done this for years and it does wonders when driving non-stop for two or three hours at night in blinding snow.

For you fellas down south, the same thing can be very useful in fog.

I got mine the same time as my SS gauge so I already had the dash apart. For me the hardest part was cutting out the air dam. It was also nice to find out how easy it was to pop out the fuse block under the hood. Stylin Concepts has a replacement air dam for the 03 that looks good. I wish I’d seen it sooner.

I may get the Stylin one later when I get the money.

Gosh, yes!!!!!!!!!!! It just pains me to see folks ripping out the factory fogs ('03 and upwards), replacing those with some ricer driving lamp.

In my driving, I frequently have to fight night fog that is thicker than pea soup. These factory fog lamps are perfect. They throw out a decent beam downwards, yet far enough that you can drive without anything getting splashed back into your eyes. AND, by way of the lamp switch, one can have just those fogs on.

GM really did a good job on this, although I'd rather have some sort of amber lens instead of the clear. Driving overseas in awful weather, where amber is a legal requirement for fog lamps, I became spoiled on it.

Is there a complete kit from GM to do this? What's the part number(s) and what's in the kit? My neighbor has an '03 LS without the fogs but would like to put a set in. I appreciate the help.
