Realignment

Hi –

Ii was out on the ranch this wkend and managed to hit a huge hole in the road, special thanks to the crafty work of a feral hog, and it knocked my alignment out. This morning I had the truck realigned and now my steering wheel is a little off center. Picture the top of the steering wheel being at 12 o’clock…now it’s at 12:45. The alignment is perfect but this new position feels odd. Not knowing much about the science of the alignment, is this normal? Please let me know. Thanks.

Thanks, but I noticed that he did do that with a tool he attached to the s. wheel - its purpose was to do what you just said. Maybe it wasn't dead-on center when he set the tool? I dunno, I was standing 10' away from the guy.

I appreciate the input.

When my truck was brand new, the steering wheel was off center but the truck drove straight. A realignment fixed the problem with the steering wheel and the truck still drove straight!!!

The people who did the alignment just didnt have the steering wheel center when they did it. You can have them center the wheel, but if you can get used to it being slightly turned, it wont hurt anything.

Thanks, guys. To me it's purely aesthetic. The truck drives very straight. It's looking like this will be one of those “I’ll get around to fixing it” scenarios. Besides, I'll probably whack it out of alignment over the next few months, anyway. This is just the first time the steering wheel hasn’t been straight. Thanks for the input. :loser:
