I'm going down the Clearwater next week to visit some friends that live down there. This is the third time I've been in the Tampa/Clearwater area and this time my friend suggested we go to Disneyworld on Saturday.

Any suggestions on what park is the best to go to and how much tickets cost for this stuff. I like rides, the scarrier the better, guess you could call me an adrenaline junkie.

Have fun, when I went down there, I wasn't a big fan of Epcot but that was about 7 years ago. They've probably added things since then. MGM Studios has some pretty cool things to see, but if I remember right, it doesn't have to many roller coaster type rides. It does have the Tower of Terror, which is a lot of fun, especially when you are free falling on the elevator. The Magic Kingdom has more rides that are roller coasters than the other parks. I don't remember how much it was for tickets, but anyways it's probably gone up a lot since I was down there. Hope this helps some :loser:

If you like rides MGM has some good ones as well as Epcot. I love the ride called test track at Epcot it a GM sponsored ride that takes you through a simulation of what a car at GM goes through for testing very cool. Epcot has two different half the front half is futuristic with the test track ride and other things that deal with what they think might be in store for us in the future very cool. The back half is like a tour of the world each country is represented with a cafe of there food and gift shops along with maybe a show and you are supposed to feel like you are in that country when you walk in. MGM has a few good rides to alot of them are based from the movies that they made they have a ride called the rock and roller coaster which is cool because it is an indoor roller coaster that goes through a dark dome the roller coaster cars are all glow in the dark. If you go to one of the parks they usually have a fireworks show at night around 10 or so. The funny thing was when the fiance and I when down a couple of years ago we did all three parks in one day. Man what a day that was. Oh and what saved us a lot of time was this ticket system that you can go up to get a ticket for a ride go to another ride wait in line for that one ride it and come back to the other one at the time the ticket says and you can jump the line and virtually get on right away. If you like more adventure I would suggest going to Island of adventure it is a part of Universal it is pretty much a roller coaster park with alot of cool rides I think it is one of the best parks there only because I love roller coasters. I hope this helps and sorry for rambling on. :loser:

First off... any kids?

My first choice would be to go to Magic Kingdom to get the Disney vibe. When you decide to go to Magic Kingdom do not park at the commuter area where the trams are. Instead continue on to the Contemporary resort. When the parking attendant asks whats up, tell him you are eating at Chef Mickeys. He will let you in. Then all you have to do is walk a couple hundred feet to the gates of MK.

My next choice would be to hit MGM. Some pretty cool rides there. tower of terror, rockn rollercoaster, star tours, indiana jones is cool and so is the back lot tour is good too.

this was a tough one to call cause animal kingdom could be my second choice too. The dinosaur ride is fun, Kali river rapis is good too but you will get wet. dont miss its tough to be a bug too.

If you do decide to go to epcot, its not bad just not the best. Go to the board walk resort or yacht club or beach house and tell the attendant you are eating lunch at the espn cafe. then just walk 300' past the end of the board walk right into the world showcase at epcot

Was there last week for vaca. SPRING BREAK!!! There will be long lines. I'll never go during spring break again. Even with the fast pass that you can get we only got on the major rides maybe twice in a day. I would go t MGM first and Epcot second. The new Mission Space ride is cool. I agree if you are looking for thrill rides go to Universal. Have Fun. BTW plan on just over $50 for a one day ticket to either Disney or Universal.

That's good to hear that it's only like 50 for a ticket. My friends both have a year pass and were saying it was something like 180-190 bucks for a ticket, which I thought was a bit high, only to find out they meant a 4 day pass which I wouldn't need since we were only going there one day and they don't exactly live near by.

I'm thinking we'll probably do MGM for the great rides, not to mention I love movies so that would be fun.

What I'm really looking forward to is just the 80 degree weather. Wisconsin has been all over the place. Yesterday it was 60 out, the day before it was 30, today it was 45 at least this morning when I got up.

Oh and if you want something to do in the evening Got to Pleasure Island it is the bar district of Disney that's a fun place too, but seeing as to how far away you are going to be staying than that might not be a good place to good. I love it down there because my brother lives only like a half an hour away from all the major parks just south of Kissimmee. Anyway have fun.

I'm not driving so :jester: for me :D

I may talk to the guys about getting a hotel in the area for the night and going saturday and sunday, but then again it's probably going to be packed because of spring break.

I live here in Orlando. If you want real thrill rides, go to Universal, Islands of Adventure - not the Studios park.

Little known fact about Universal: IF you stay at the HardRock Hotel on Universal property, your room key acts as a "fast pass" on every ride at any time for your whole party. So, last time I went, my buddy was staying at the hotel and we just walked into the fast-pass lane everytime. Its been about 18 months since I went, so double-check to make sure they still offer this.

The Magic Kingdom at Disney doesn't really have any thrill rides. Sure it has Space Mountain and Thunder Mountain, but they pale in comparison to some other roller-coasters. However, and maybe its just because I'm getting old, I still have fun at the Magic Kingdom, even without little kids.

What was that about Floridiots?

If you are looking for thrill rides Disney is NOT the plce to be IMO. The most thrilling ride there is probably space mountain and it was built in what? 1975? Go to Universal IOA there they have the Dueling Dragons and my fav. the Hulk. Last time I went (that I actually had to pay) it was something like $52 for a one park one day pass.

Its good to know someone that works there and gets free tickets because we used a tone of them up in Dec.

The Floridiots EVERYWHERE there too.

    • This is a really late reply but I just found this thread. They won't sell the hinges. I've gone 7 rounds with them. Their solution is to buy a new cover. I'm about to buy a new cover and it won't be a Bakflip. It also won't be from realtruck.com.
    • Yes, and also pulling heavy trailers or a large camper up steep grades as well as descending grades such as the more rustic off road camping locations and using engine braking with that low gearing as well as soft ground can just suck the power . I realize pickups these days tend to have an over all lower first gear ratio compared to automatic transmission pickups from years back so that has helped a lot in its ability in high range but there comes a point if in four wheel drive the torque runs out at the wheels, certainly with a gas engine. They don't put two speed transfer cases on pickups for a cool factor, they have a function if one needs that massive torque to the wheels that high range can't deliver.
    • Notes 7/18/2026   3,400 miles on this batch of Mobil 1 Euro 5W40 since the GDI pump replacement. Alcohol runs very clean when ring seal is tight and the sump isn't getting hosed with fuel. Checked oil level at fill up today as is my practice and grabbed a white Kleenex to look at the color. What color?  I was going to change it but.....
    • 4 low is really nice on steep boat ramps.
    • Interesting, I suspect I would have fueled up in Lee Vining as the day prior I would have filled up either in Laughlin or near there and maybe again before I entered Death Valley and once out the other side late that evening as I kept on driving into the night up near Lee Vining. Next morning I most likely fueled up in LV before heading over Tioga Pass into ( as I refer to it as "Yose .... Mite" 😁 ). And again that was 19 years ago but the price then must not have jumped out at me like the 5 bill a gallon theme of nutty cult hippy country Big Sir or head so far up their rear Aspen. I'd be curious to know where the highest prices are in the lower 48, I probably would not be far off to guess somewhere in Cali forn ie. Coldfoot and Prudhoe bay may have those prices beat but that is a whole other world up there and when prices are more normal elsewhere that is about what they can be up there I believe in no mans land. Anyway interesting that the 395 corridor is hosing people and the thing is, its tourist season and its not like there are a lot of competition options when driving up that highway from what I could see. Yup, big ole Boaterhomes and various other RV's ahead and behind me at the Yosemite entrance gate and they have to get their fuel somewhere.
