Awesome vid!

The 89-present Nissan Skyline is probably the only import car that I wouldn't mind rollin' in. Here is the badass among the group:

Clicky for "rev-happy" 1999 Nissan Blitz Skyline GT-R R348....and yes, folks, you are reading that revline right!!!:lol::lol:

And the ironic thing is..........Japan has, for a number of years now, had a limit for cars like these, or any car that comes off of their assembly lines, to put out no more than 280hp stock! No lie!

 I focking love Skylines!!! Even though it's a Nissan, how can anyone not like an AWD Twin Turbo I-6 that is capable of makeing over 1000hp?

Yes for many years Japan has had the law about a 280hp limit but somehow they manage to get around it. Not as good as a Skyline but an Evo 8 makes over 280hp also.

I wonder how much it cost to import a R34 to Australia?

I think it has to do with the regulations that Nippon car manufacturers have. They are required by the government to make their cars not as powerful as they could because they want to be able to have everyone that can afford them to buy them and not wrap them around a light pole or a tree. But, of course, after the car is off the showroom floor, it's fair game. And the same could be said for cars in Europe and the US, but they aren't as stingy as Japan. IMHO, that's a pretty good thing, but I could be wrong.

Skylines are illegal here in the states, but I don't know why. It may have something to do with what the car can become, as shown in the link above. There are also a few European cars that fall under this ban, but I don't know which kinds at the moment. A Porsche and a couple of Italian exotics, I believe. It may not be as expensive as it seems to import a Sky to Australia, or a Monaro to Japan for that matter.

I do give "mad props" to GM for their additions of Opel, Holden, and Vauxhall to the corporate line. Some of their vehicles do look pretty sweet. Any of the Holden Utes/SS Utes/Crewmans/Cross 8's/One Tonners would fit me just fine. Even if they are right-hand drive.

Ooooo!! Dogg wants it!

I heard to import and make a Skyline smog legal in the states was around $30K, not including the price of the car. Never heard that they were completely banned. Or is that not what you ment? There are even places on the internet (based in California somewhere) that will import a 3-4 year old Skyline for the price of a new one plus the 30K conversion fee.

BTW: My Skyline on Grand Tourismo 3 makes over 1000hp, does the 400Km (close to 1/4 mile) in 8 sec, and has a top speed of over 230mph.:cool: yeah i need a life

Well, I had read in the Cars section on IGN.com that Nissan's U.S. dealers were banned from selling them. They (IGN) had said that it was illegal for Nissan to sell the Skys in the U.S., but that article appears to have been deleted since I can't find it anywhere in their archives. I did find the name of the company that imports them: Motorex. They've been doing it since 1996/7. So really, we can both say that we can get them in the states, but not through the normal route as we would a new Vette or a 3500 CC LT LB DRW 8.1/Ally......1drool.gif (sorry, got a little carried away there.)

Racing games are my all time favorites. Test Drive for the XBox kicks ass!!!
