vibration

Does it feel like a "shake" kind of vibration or a "hop" kind of vibration. Sometimes if one of these trucks is unloaded the back end will hop a little bit on bumps on the highway, on concrete highways in particular. I also think you should look into that link above if you have a 2 piece driveshaft.

yes, feels just like that, and come to think of it, i didnt notice it while towing the boat this weekend, hmmmmmm, do have a 2 piece drive shaft. how do i inspect the quality of that joint?

I get that hop once in a while on the highway and I get a bit of a judder at slow speeds over sharp bumbs. I don't think that the stock shocks are up to the task of controlling the stiff rear springs in our trucks when there is no load in the box. There is one spot on the highway which has a series of bumps that makes the rear end hop so bad that I have to slow down. The headlights just dance all over the place. :loser:

No problem from my two piece steel drive shaft yet. Knock on wood. :loser: Ouch that hurt. :loser:

at 36500 miles my stock shocks were shot. When i took them off I pushed on them and they were tight for the first 1 ins then they just sank to the floor like there was nothing there.

The fronts werent to bad but the backs were horriable.

Im running new rancho 9000 all the way around now.

Dont worry it still shakes.

But the ride is better

I think its the 35 Goodyear mtrs they just dont make a round tire.

I really laugh when I see the Nascar races they run goodyear can you imagine what it would be like runnning 200 mph with that shake we have.

My coffee spills if its to full and Nascar would hit the wall.

this is my 3 rd set of mtrs and second set of rims in 2 months.

So I guess just live with it.

Thanks for the reply, as you can see from my sig, monster mudders arent the issue  However, I am planning to order a lowering kit soon that comes with new shocks. Maybe that will help.

Still, if anyone knows how to inspect the health of the joint in the 2 piece driveshaft, short of taking it to the dealer, please let me know.

I posted a tread titled "engine miss" a few weeks ago, it got no response. After spending some more time with the truck I think my miss is this "Highway Hop". Truck runs runs too darn good to be missing!

 Thanks, Zorrro
