Need some software

I know there are a couple computer gurus on here, and hopefully a couple that know something about graphics and the likes. I'm looking for some software that will allow me to put pictures together and add music, to make a slide show/movie type thing. Powerpoint is worthless for this sort of thing, IMO, so I'm looking for something a little more indepth. I'm not looking to spend a grand on this like photoshop, but I don't want some cheapo shareware either.

thanks

Well....Strictly for photo editing, and there are absolutely TONS of plugins available for it....You just can't beat THE GIMP

It has most of the capabilites of Photoshop, it's just wee bit less intuitive. But the price more than makes up for what it lacks in features. It's open source, shareware......Free. The open source part is where the tons of plug-ins come in. There might be some animation plug-ins for it, I havn't looked.

Plus, it's just cool to say: "Bring out the Gimp". :sigh:

Try this program and see if you like.

"Adobe Premiere Pro tryout"

Adobe Premiere® Pro software delivers real-time editing tools for professional video production.

This tryout version offers many of the application's professional features. It will expire 30 days from the first time you open the application.

Download it from here:

If you like it you may want to buy a book also PM me and I tell/show............

:sigh:

Hmm, I'll edit this post in the AM, if it lets me, or will put another in here. I'll find out what we used 2 years ago when putting a slideshow together of some x-mas photos. We were even able to put music to it. The show went back nearly 20 years and showed how my family and another family grew through the years, a tradition of x-mas eve dinners provided the pics. We put them to a Trans-Siberian Orchestra song, really went smooth and was REAL easy once we got the right program. We never figured out how to put the show on a CD to be played in a HT DVD player though, so we had to do small showings of it in the computer room.

i'll second premiere. Photoshop won't do anything for you besides editing a photograph. What you want is some type of vide capability and that's where premiere steps in. It is really easy to use.

Never messed with it nor do i know if it can do it, but windows xp comes w/ that movie maker software, maybe worth looking at if you already have it on your system.

well I went and bought Proshow 2.0 gold.....and it works great, it only does slide shows but it does exactly what I needed, made a cheesy little slide show for the new wife with wedding pics and music....there won't be a dry eye in the house...LMAO :sigh:

I guess you'll start crying when I post this link then. This is the program we used 1.5 years ago to do our slide show, did a nice job and I think it offered some nice transitions. My Album Pro is the program and it was free...

Heck, if you aren't needing to edit the photos, you can use Macromedia Flash. I think they still offer a trial version. Just a thought ... even though I see you've already made your slideshow. :loser:

And yes Wingnut, Teh GIMP is teh shizzle! :loser:

I wouldn't reccomend Premiere to anyone I hate that product.. yuck..

Microsoft's Free xp program Movie Maker is great or Ulead's VideoStudio or Pinnacle's software..

All of those are beginner based yet powerful, Premiere takes some major skill to even know where to begin and it's cornfusing as hell.
