I was bored on a drive one day and I looked at the steering wheel logo that is molded into the plastic.

Kinda boring....

So out came the dremel and some aluminum sheet metal....Here are the results...

Looks neat, but could potentially be a piece of shrapnel headed for your face in case the air bag ever goes off.

Good point.. I guess that all depends upon how the bag gets deployed.. Make a neat impression on ones forehead.. :loser:

Anyway I have not permanantly mounted it yet.. Still deciding...

I used a piece of gold mylar that was adhesive backed on the old truck. Looked :loser: and was safe :loser:

Too bad they don't make vinyl decals for the emblems like they do for vettes :loser:

I would not leave that there...the way that drivers side airbag comes out is that the cover splits open right down the middle from top to bottom...you can even see the seam where it splits. It is going to split right in the middle of where that metal piece is...it looks good, but I would definately remove it!

Sure looks to me like the bottom opens first and it flips straight up... :loser:

I am an EMT and have seen several wrecks, most recently two different accidents both involving silverados :loser::loser::loser: , anyways, the bag comes out of the center of the wheel. Take a look at this ebay auction for a wrecked caviler and look at one of the pictures of the blown airbags...

Although not the same steering wheel, it is the same concept. The passanger side airbag (both on this car and silverados) does work on a hinge type system.
