I5 / I4 Atlas Announcement

I was glad to read of the official announcement confirming the I5.  But no word of a turbo variant isn't what I was hoping for.  I really like the new I6, I put over 100 miles on one today..in fact its in my garage right now awaiting its return to the dealership tomorrow morning (extended test drive), but it could use a little more low end grunt when it gets put into the Colorado.  And being that it will be missing a cylinder when that happens, I really hope a turbo is an option.  Regardless, I sure could get used to driving that Envoy. ;)

Sorry it took so long to respond, I actually returned the Envoy the same day you posted.  The computer said 14.6mpg avg...so obviously it wasn't broken in yet (approx 200 miles) and I was a little hard on it to be expecting good mileage.  I have to say, the acceleration was less than adequate for me, as it had 3.73 gears vs. the optional 4.1...I hope that was the reason.  Off the line, a '95 Grand Cherokee w/115K miles on it beat me, but after 50-60mph, I pulled past it and left it in a hurry.  The 4.2 loves the high revs, but the Envoy was heavy, being it has a frame where the Cherokee is unibody, and is bigger / heavier than the Grand Cherokee.  The ride quality was light years ahead of the old Blazer / Jimmy platform, but I have newfound respect for the venerable 4.3.  Also, the shift smoothness under wot is incredible, must be felt to be believed.

On a side note, they ended up replacing both lower ball joints on my Sonoma, at only 28K miles.  Its really tight again, both steering and suspension, no complaints here.
