92 TBI 305 in 88 1/2 Ton

I recently bought an 88 Silverado with a 92 TBI 305. I know I could easily go out and buy a 350 and have my power needs(wants) met. But it all comes down to cash, I don't have enough of it. Now I'm not looking for high speeds but I want monster low end torque. I've heard it's been done but I'm not sure how. I guess for starters I could slide in a 350 cam. The truck is already set up with gears aimed at towing by the previous owner but what other cheap options are there to achieve this goal. I do have contacts where I can buy stock components really cheap, I'm just not sure what to get. Any hints would be great.
