Guys....

My one year free subscription recently ended. In the one year I never used it and wonder if it's worth the $200 per year.

Any thoughts ?? It seems like a bunch of money for something I may never use.

Sounds like you answered you own question :wtf:

Mine will expire too. I would trade onstar in a heartbeat for the ford keylock pads.

the ford keylock pads.

Reminds me...friend's brother had a late 90's explorer. I walked over to it when parked in the drive one time and guessed the key button code on the third try...kind of freaked my friend out a bit :wtf:

Depends on the need, I guess. When I was a "road warrior" carrying a bag and traveling quite a bit, it was extremely helpful, with the Directions and Connections plan. However now that I am working close to home with knowledge of my area, I am going to reduce the usage to the Safe and Sound package, which is only like $16 a month and all plans are month to month. I like to keep about $50 worth of credit on the phone system, as it's pretty convenient to use if I don't have my cell, costly, but when you need an analog signal, it's usually there. Plus people get a kick out of the dial by voice feature, and I can be reached as the truck as a phone number all it's own, in case the wife needs me to pick up some vino on the way home or something. I see value in it.

My free first year just expired last month and I decided to sign up for another year. I chose to get rid of my cell phone and just use the Onstar service. I only make one or two calls a month, so its much cheaper than a normal cell. That and the signal strength is 100% better than any cell I've ever had. My only gripe about Onstar is the lack of a keypad for entering numbers. I hate the voice recognition system. It isn't accurate enough and takes too long.

It really depends upon your needs if you think it's worth the money. I like having it because we do trips to areas of Washington where there are as many deer as people. If you stay in populated areas all the time, then it probably isn't worth the money.
