General Question about new valve springs

Hey guys,

 

I was wondering, in general, if when you get new bigger Dia. springs for your heads that don't fit in the stock spring seats, what size you have to open the seat up too.

 

I am actually going to be doing a set of vortec heads for an L31 (vortec 350) but was also wondering in general. Does the spring seat HAVE to be turned down using the SAME Dia. as the spring you are using, or is it ok to go larger? For example, off the top of my head, I think that the Vortec springs (stock) are about 1.26" Dia. If the ones I want to put in are say 1.32" dia. Do I have to make the seat exactly 1.32 for the new springs, or is it ok if you even made the seat 1.42, 1.44 etc?
