Installing news pads question

Hello team,

I am in the midst of installing new front rotors and pads on my 2001 K2500. My main question is on pad retraction. I thought it was bad for pads to ride the rotor but in my kit of pads from the dealer, there wasn't any of that sticky adhesive to hold the pads to the calipers. There was some silicone lubricant for the rails but that was it. WHY? Shouldn't there by some adhesive to aid in retraction? I was very pleased with the life of the original front pads and rotors (88k) and if that's the design of GM, I guess I can deal with it.

I still have the wheels off and before I button it all up I wanted to ask the group. Any thoughts??

Thanks!

"Floating" calipers, they been on US cars for quite a while. Usually only one side "floats" the other is cliped into the piston(s)

EDIT>>>

Forgot to answer about the "silicone", most times it's blue.

That is the "ANTI-RATTLE" compound the is spread on the back of the pads.

Never oil/grease the bolts that the pads ride on. Doing that will just collect pad dust and dirt and prevent the pads from moving.
