I am taking my first big trip with my westers 93 tune, I dropped mpg's like a rock in town, but on the highway I think I'm doing pretty good

10.93 mpg......with about 2000lbs in the bed, and a speed average around 70-75

I am plesantly suprised. :puke:

10.93 is nothing to crow about even with 2000 lbs in bed. Besides, it is the town driving that usually eats your lunch with a big V8 and need most improvement. My stock 2000 K3500 with only a 5.7 gets about 12 around town and 16 to 17 on road. During the winter with 2 to 3000 lbs in bed and a 8 foot fisher on the front I get about 9 in town and 11 to 12 on the highway which ain't to bad considering the lack of aerodynamics with 8ft plow. Your 8.1 should do better than it is. My 89 4x4 burb fully loaded for a extended trip will do 17 mpg if you keep it under 70mph. I have made over a dozen cross country trips in it. and as recently as 2003. You need to do some more tweaking or something as I have seen motor homes get 9 or 10 mpg at times. You could have bought a lot of gas for the price of that Westers programmer.

I made a trip cross country, with the stock PCM, and over 7000 miles I only got just under 12 mpg......so with the added power my westers gives me I'll take a 1 mpg decrease. I know it's not impressive, but hey, I honestly though it was gonna be in the 9-10 range. Also I am guesstimating my average speed. For most of the trip I was in the 85-90 mph range, but I figure with traffic and all that jazz I would have averaged in the low 70's.....I'm sure if I went 65, I could probably get in the 11.5-12.5 range....which from what I read on this board would be almost unheard of with the 8.1.

almost 11 is GREAT!! It must be from that Flux Capacitor your running. :puke: I am glad to hear it! Do you have 4.10's or 3.73's?

Glad your happy but I do not think that in this current fuel market that a after market device that lowers fuel mileage is very good. Stock and properly geared for its load, the 8.1 is no slouch. You could have install a whimple too and got the same ofr better cruising MPG and a lot more serious power too!

Not bad at all and a lot cheaper than a duramax too and a lot better MPG than a 8.1 as well.

i forgot to add - in abq,nm at 5000ft elevation !! i get this milage

On my frequent trips out west I have always gotten as good or better gas mileage at higher altitudes than lower ones (when running on generally flat land too)
