Exterior Speakers

At lunch today I once again got blasted by the majority of minorities with massive subwoofers.

I like to be outside during lunch, but I also like to hear my music while on the green. I generaly have to sit in my truck to hear anything which defeats the purpose of even leaving the office.

Here's what i'd like to do...

Run wires from the harness to either the hood area or the bed that are weather resistant and have connections to hook up another set of wires.

That way I can keep a set of indoor/outdoor speakers in the truck and when I find a nice spot, take them out, plug them in and sit back and relax to my music away from the crowd, or just drown them out.

I think this could also be beneficial while at parks, or detailing the truck, or small gatherings, that way you can keep the doors closed and still enjoy whats in the cd player.

Has anyone tried this? Does anyone know what wires to splice into?

I'm thinking of using my Advent B2R Pearl in/out speakers.

This probably isn't a bad idea...just make sure to protect the ends of the wires from the weather or you might short something out. There are several places you can tap into, but I would definately just tap into the existing speaker wires somewhere. If you want to run them to the bed area, the factory speaker wires for the rear speakers run down the edge of the driver side door (underneath the plastic molding on the edge of the carpet. You can also tap in just behind the head unit, but again you would be just taping straight into the existing speaker wires.

Good idea, but Boombox's sound horrible in my opinion, unless you get a large one, which generally are too big to put on your back seat when not being used.

The set I plan on using are loud speakers, about 12" high by 6" wide.

They sit under the back bench perfectly.

I like the idea of plugging them in outside of the truck while plying with my potato cannon or launching model rockets.

I have just the idea for you! I have a buddy that did exactly what you are talking about, except he put his speakers inside of his tool box in the back of his truck. He has a separate cd/mp3 player back there, one 10"woofer and two speakers that are attached to the lid of the box that pop up when the box is open. I think he has two amps back there to drive everything, He also has a hook up from the Headunit to where he can hook up his laptop and play all the songs from his computer thru those speakers. And batteries to keep everything running properly....And they are hooked up as to where they charge while the vehicle is being driven to be ready to play whenever he is ready.

Needless to say he probably went a bit overboard with all of this...but you have to know him!

That sounds (pun always intended) awesome!

I would love to see pics of his setup.

Not that I would build something like that though

I have a setup that does this, but is not nearly so complicated. I have speaker Boxes behind the seat (reg cab) with long wires. I open the windows and set them pointing front, rear, whatever on the bed or the hood.
