Cost: About $17.00

Skill Level: Easy

Overall Rating: 8.0 on glass, 5.0 on paint

A Clear Bra installer used this stuff to clean the hood surface before putting the film on. It was a tactic for him to push another product while I was there. Didn't jump on it at the time because I wanted to read up on it some more. Turns out it had it's start as a type of glass cleaner.

So I call him back later for a can. It looks and feels a lot like the spray whipped cream.

On paint, the sound of the included yellow "plastic foam" sponge will make your heart stop. It feels and SOUNDS a little too abrasive. :D Supposedly this sound helps determine when the foam has been played out and the paint is clean. You have to be really careful to get sap off before using it because you can grind these type of bits back into the paint. As an alternative, try using a regular clean sponge.

You don't need to apply any pressure, but you have to keep it moist while working it. Don't bother doing this out in the sun since it will dry out too quickly. To limit swirl marks, you should only run the sponge in front to back motions.

I have to say that after cleaning up the Speed Clay, the wax afterward felt incredible. :D Felt very smooth and the wax seems to really grab the paint which should help it last longer.

I was impressed with the way it works on the factory clearcoated wheels. You could clay bar off the brake dust, but then you'd have to chuck the bar.

On glass, this stuff makes a big freaking mess. But if you are patient, wipe off the excess, and polish it out you will be quite happy with the results. It does an excellent job of removing water spots. :D I use a rinsed sponge to get most of it off. Then use a soft towel for final polish.

It can also get rid of that nasty film that sticks to the inside of your windshield. Just be careful and don't get it on your dashboard. It doesn't just push the oil around, it seems to break it up or something. So it does help although it will seem like a lot of work. I'm curious how this will work for those that have Rain-X  on their glass and want to get it off.

Didn't try the other Diamondite products like their polymer wax.

In summary...........

Pros:

1. Great job on knocking out out water spots on glass. :D

2. Creates a glass smooth surface on paint - Ultra glassy surface on glass.

3. Removes wax and light oils easily - great starting point for a new wax job.

4. Unlike clay bars, you don't have to throw it away if you drop it on the ground.

Cons:

1. That soy emulsion can get messy. Turns into an ugly crust if it dries out.

2. Water doesn't readily clean it off car - you have to wipe/polish it out.

3. Will scare you on paint - traditionalists will prefer clay bars.

4. Pricey at first (up for debate as I have not seen just how far 1 can will go).

Just ordered some Spray Clay from premiumautocare.com, Diamondite 18 Ounce Speed Clay & Speed Sponge $19.95 + Shipping $7.95. Hope it works, I have something like over spray on my truck too. Little white spots that will flake off using your thumb nail but won't wash off. I tried Meguir's SCRATCH X since it was easily available, made the paint nice and smooth except for the white spots. Hope this spray clay works, will let Y’all know.
