R&D Guy Posted June 17, 2004 Posted June 17, 2004 Hello to all, I am in the process of deciding on getting a new 2004 Silverado and wanted to know if anyone could inform me of the major differences between a fully loaded LS and an LT trim truck? I am aware that you can get leather in an LS package. The GM website only states that you are adding a four speed automatic tranny, Tow/Haul mode and a six disc changer. Is that it? With the Duramamx in an LS fully optioned out...is it only a CD player option...? Is there a list I am missing? Thanks and great website, I will be here for a long time R&D Guy
Wingnut Posted June 17, 2004 Posted June 17, 2004 Probably OnStar and/or Bose stereo. Not sure though. But welcome to the forums anyway!
linda Posted June 17, 2004 Posted June 17, 2004 -----10 way heated programmable seats -----Bose with OnStar -----heated folding mirrors with singal -----leather a lot of the difference i believe is in the fact that all these options are standard for the LT package. You can order them individually in the LS package, but GM just makes it easier and all inclusive with the LT. I have never done a comparison, but i think its actually cheaper to get the LT, than it is to go ordering all those extra's for the LS. This is just my personal unsubstantiated opinion, but i think you get a better truck with the LT package. Seems like less over all problems and a better than average "back to the service department" calls. At least thats what i have personally experienced. Im sure there will be upteen hundreds of replies saying they have lemon LT's, but thats just how its worked out for me. I have always been of the opinion that if your going to get it, get exactly what you want. If you dont have enough $ to get what you want, wait longer and save more, then get it. Good luck on your truck search.
Butch 02 Denali Posted June 17, 2004 Posted June 17, 2004 Hey Linda, your back! Haven't seen you much around the forums lately, nice to hear from you again! How's that monster truck of yours running? Butch 02 Sierra Denali
Chevyfreek Posted June 17, 2004 Posted June 17, 2004 The LT is a nice package and really includes everything. The only thing it does not include is the towing package as a standard. There are probably a few other things as well like gear choices and the like. Linda has it pretty much covered though, I think. I have driven a couple of the 04' LT's and they are nice. The Bose System is the way to go either way. These trucks cost a lot either way so you might as well make sure you get everything you want.
linda Posted June 17, 2004 Posted June 17, 2004 Hey Butch, yeah im back....i was having some family issues that i wont bore anyone with . Im still interested in what we were discussing before, just may be a little delay while i get some things back in order. Kirk, im not sure why the LT does not come in the standard cab, i asked the same question to my sales guy and he looked at the floor and kick a rock around on the ground....then looked back at the ground then changed the subject.
Shaners Posted June 17, 2004 Posted June 17, 2004 IN addition to evrything else that was mentioned... on an LT model the only front seat option is the heated buckets (the 40/20/40 split is not an option)
R&D Guy Posted June 17, 2004 Author Posted June 17, 2004 Thanks to everyone for their answers! I am looking forward to learning more here...I'm sure I will be able to contribute. When I have another free moment I will post a collective hello in the new members area. Obviously, the LT is the way to go. You are all right, you are already spending the money, you might as well get everything you want, and get a bigger return whenever you sell down the line... R&D Guy
KyleBst264 Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 LS comes standard with -Split front bench seat - Cloth interior - Dual-Zone manual climate control LT 2500hd comes standard with -Alluminum forged wheels -Power folding mirrors with turn signals -Leather -10 way power captain's chairs with bun warmers up front -Automatic dimming rear-view mirror with compass and outside temperture. -(starting in 2004) In dash 6 disc CD changer -Dual Zone automatic climate control -Memory package If you have the extra money to spend, I would personally go with the LT. But no matter what LS or LT, getting a Chevy Silverado, you're still getting a d**n good truck.
airbalancer Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 I got a SLE in Dec and wished I got SLT. I guess it will have to do until the new comes out in 2008
Rippem Posted June 19, 2004 Posted June 19, 2004 truck for truck, option for option...adding the leather/buckets/6 disc "Bose joke"/onstar ('nuther worthless add-on to drive up the price) is about $2500 cost. all other options remaining the same (ordered individually; wheels, tinted glass ect.) on an LS. Basically...historically, unless you're addicted to leather, skip it...it's a bad buy, losing 60% of it's value in 2 years. For me it's easy, not a leather fan, and at 6'6" that freakin' ridiculously oversize console is a no-go. Sucks up way too much leg room!
mhraracing Posted June 19, 2004 Posted June 19, 2004 I have an 02 HD LS with Alum rims and a couple of LT options....then we bought the 04 Z71 Tahoe for the wife...... Boy do I now wish I had the LT......... 05 or 06 will be a Loaded LT HD for me !!
Mr Mojo Posted June 22, 2004 Posted June 22, 2004 this is my window sticker from my '03 2500HD with the LS window sticker
bigdogs Posted June 23, 2004 Posted June 23, 2004 Actually power folding mirrors is not a part of the LT package. I have a 2003 Sierra 2500HD with the LT package and it didn't come with the power folding mirrors.
