Will this work???

Does anyone know if the body colored parts on the tahoes or burbs mirrors (part of the mirror that is chrome on the silverados) can be popped off and installed on a silverado?

If i can find a tahoe or burb in indigo blue at a junk yard i might try and get this if it will work

The chrome is really bugging me and i think this is an easier and cheaper route than painting

Thanks

Yes it will work!  I have tahoe mirrors w/grey inserts on my truck now.

Here is a clip from a post in the GM Truck & Sport Utility Performance Forum - by Bob Prim

"It's black with the pewter insert - my mirrors on my truck have chrome inserts, so I wanted to see what's involved with removing them. There's no need to remove the mirror glass when doing this. The plastic insert is held in place with clips and double sided tape. If you VERY carefully insert a flat screwdriver under the chrome or colored cap, you'll be able to slowly pry it up. Feel around with the screwdriver for the tape and push the blade through the adhesive & it'll come off easier (probably heating it up with a hair dryer would help, too). Some of the 4 plastic clips might break when you remove the cap, but the double sided tape does most of the holding, so don't worry about it. Just be real careful & go around the perimeter of the cap several times with the screwdriver until it comes off. The plastic is quite durable - I wasn't too gentle with it, and the only damage was to the little clips on the reverse side."

Pendlum & Bob Prim have put together some great instructions for installing the complete Tahoe mirrors w/the puddle light.
