Yup, I totaled our last one

And since we got the new Duc, we decided to trade my brothers friend the bike and $1200 cash for his 91 Jeep Wrangler, 4 wd 2.5 cyl, white. It's got new seats, new soft top, freshly rebuilt top end w/ brand new head. I guess the 2.5's go prety good, especially up top. At least that's what I've heard.

It's gonna be another fun toy for the winter!!! All it needs is a 6" lift and 35's

(And the tires are shot, so I guess we're gonna do a 2" B.L and 32's!!!)

Hi -

Congrats on the jeep.

The 2.5 is may struggle alot on the highway with those 32's. I run 33's on my TJ with the 4.0 and my 5th gear is pretty much useless, and I'm lucky if I can get over 75 mph in 4th. You might want to consider regearing.

Yes, re-gear if you plan larger tire to at least 4.56. That 2.5 is pretty sturdy and will turn them fine if geared properly. Also CJ's can be a custerfart on ice. I saw a freak accident involving two CJ's about 4 winters ago. On CJ was traveling about 60 mph and hit a icing spot on a overpass I -70 near here, it spun out and went into center median. About 30 seconds later a second CJ crossed the same overpass, spun out and hit braodside hit the CJ in median on passanger side (lucky there was on passanger in it) with its front end and then went over the top of it! The one in the median was crush in to edge of drivers seat and driver was cut up good but "okay" when I looked him over good, told him he would be okay and stayed with him until help came for him. The other driver was not hurt much. Both were stock and not doing anything when it happened. short wheel base vehicals like that can get crazy very quickly on ice. About 25 years ago I say another freak accident with a CJ on ice. It spunout and flipped and threw driver out and then landed on wheels and took off down the road at about 15 mph with two little kids still in it. I started to chase it down with my 4x4 GMC and was about to pull in front of it and stop it when someone leap into it from the side of the road and stopped it. I would walk before I would run a CJ on glare ice at any kind of speed.

Hopefully this YJ will do better, that's kinda scary.

Yeah, yeah, excuses excuse, but when I hit that pole, it was rainin pretty good, and I started to slide on the little yeller things in the middle of the road, got nervous and WAAAY over corrected. The sad thing is that the following week my dad was going to have a 4" lift, 33's, a gear swap and fuel injection kit put on.

I really miss that CJ, it seriously was a blast to drive. The thorttle stuck sometimes, but only at lower rpm's when you pushed it to the floor. I was in my buddy's culdesac and that happened, starting doing crazy donuts!!! I was scared, but it was fun.

I'm just waitin till winter to go 4 wheelin, it's gotta do better than my blazer

Hey I like Jeeps and I have owned a J20 for 18 years now that I plan to restore someday and CJ and YJ are great for offroad and can be fun to drive but they can be, as you learned, a real heart attack on slick roads.
