4WD Service light

it comes on every now and again, truck pics are in sig...

i flushed the tranny, new filter, new oil in both diffs.

i have 4.56 gears.

it just pisses me off when it comes on

do you think anything is wrong?

i dont suspect so, the trucks into 2HI, 4HI and 4LO fine

or can it just be the light?

I swapped the switch in the dash after hearing repeatedly that the OE unit is crap. I got mine through GM Parts Dircet.com for about $38 (genuine GM). Really easy to do.

Like Blue-2001-Z71 said, it's most likely the switch. Mine service light will come on every day for several days, then won't come on again for weeks. I took it to the dealer and they scanned the code and said it was the switch.

I really like my truck, but it ticks me off that GM couldn't build a more reliable switch than they have.

I had mine worked on under waranty about 8 months ago now...

It was a computer reprogram according to the service department. I have not had a problem with it since then. I didnt have to do anything to the switch.

There is a previous discussion on this thread, you might be able to find it with the search opition. I have seen the switch discussed there...

I liked it better when it was a stick on the floor. Thankfully none of my 4x4's have push button 4wd and from the posts I have seen here, I never want one either. I guess I am just old fashisioned about it!

I agree with that amung several other things they did VERY cheaply on our trucks

Sadly it is all about profit margins, satisfaction is secondary it seems these days.
