I have it confirmed from an engineer on the 355 platform, that for the freshening that will occur between 06-07, that a turbo I-5 is currently in the works for the platform.

As a "regular" option or as a special sporty/performance model (i.e. Syclone)?...

IMO, they are lying out the buttcrack if they say the I-6 won't fit. There's like 2 feet from the front of the radiator support to the front of my I-4... I know the I-6 isn't THAT much longer!

Also, it seems easier to put in a 4.8 or 5.3L V8 in there.. (yes, it will fit -- been done already)...

In terms of option availability, I'm not quite certain. It may be a simple "uplevel" option available on all trucks. It also makes sense that the turbo would be placed onto the H3 Alpha, too.

As for the V8, I don't know how easy that would be to mass-produce serially. The space is extremely constricted. I know you may cite examples of CTS-V or SSR, especially, but those are both low volume products. The SSR even has it's own factory to handle that.

Not sure I'd want the I-6, though. I've driven both my family's Traiblazer EXT with the I-6 and a Canyon with the I-5. To be fair, the Canyon is lighter, but I found the I-5 to be considerably smoother and free-revving than the 6. IMO, that is.
