01silverado2500 Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 My friend has a 1990 GMC and he would like to install a new aftermarket headunit. I know that the head unit will install in the area where the factory cass unit is, and he would like to remove the stock head unit. What all is needed to complete this upgrade? Also he plans on replacing the factory speakers and add a box with 2 JL 10" subs. Any recomendations on an Amp or Headunit? Any info on this would be helpful......Thanks
sk Posted August 19, 2004 Posted August 19, 2004 Read my response here: Audio It doesn't give speaker recommendations but tells you about the installation brackets. Scott
Hilly Billy Willy Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 You need to buy a new piece to hold the cd player where the cassette player was. I got mine at car domian .com . You can get them to match colours too. I also got a cd holder to go where the old radio was, a wiring harness to attach everything to the factory wires and a attenna attachment. Theres three pieces to your factory radio. The tape player, the radio, and the reiciever, which is located behind the ash tray. You need to take them all out to get at the wires.
