charlesyoung Posted August 14, 2004 Posted August 14, 2004 Hi - I'm new to the forum and could really use some of your insight. I am not currently a Chevy owner but plan to be again soon. I'm looking at an 89 Chevy Silverado Ext Cab 4x4. It is advertised as 5.7 liter, 5 speed. Before I go see it, I'm trying t get a little better understanding of the drivetrain components. I'm assuming this is a manual tranny. Would it be the NV3500? This seems like an uncommon combination. How does this tranny hold up? Do you know gear ratios for this tranny? The truck has about 200K miles but I don't know if its been rebuilt. What would be the most common differential gear ratios for this truck? Anything in particular to look for? I know it is a lot of questions, so any help will be greatly appreciated. If there is a sight or a link that would give various specs for this truck, I would love to know about it. Thanks!!
