Hi guys, I've a Blazer 92 4.3L and I have a problem with fire advance, I want to adjust it myself but the mecano told me that I have to disconect something like the computer or something like that before. Is it true? I have a timing light, what should I do step by step to adust the fire advance?

Thanks!

I drink beer until I get the info :banghead::cheers:

Hi, you have to pull the EST (electronic spark timing) plug in. I havent worked on that particular engine, but on the mid 90's full size trucks its on the firewall and it has a tag on it too. After you pull that you can set base timing from hooking induction pickup to plug wire #1 and loosen the retaining bolt holding the distributor housing and turn it either left or right to line up the timing marks on the harmonic balancer to the bracket on the block. Not sure what the factory specs are though but make sure you get them, dont just "wing" it. Good luck.

myblazer, I'm not sure where it is on the blazer but you could look in your instruction manual for blazer and if you cant get it there, than you could just run up to advanced auto parts or any place who sells Chilton or Hayne's manuals and flip through until you find what you need. Sorry I dont know the exact location.

NOS#9BIGMAC, This would be the procedure for setting base timing on your truck with the 5.7. If you never checked the base timing then it might be a good idea but its not required just cause your doing a tune up. I recomend doing it though. Good luck.
