No more 8.1 for the SUV?

Just checked the Chevrolet web site for the 2005 suburban 2500 and there is no option for the 8.1 engine. Has GM deleted the 8.1 option for their SUV's?

I'm not sure about whether or not it will be available, but you shouldn't trust that truck builder thing anymore than you would trust you local stealerships salesman.

They aren't the best at updating that site with current info.

As far as I know and with all the info. we got here at the dealership so far the 8.1 is still available in the 2500 Subs.and Yukons as well as the 2500 Avalances and 2500HD/3500 pickups.

If anything changes (as can happen)I'll let you guys know,

Rich.

Not to be a pain or anything, but I'd be pretty interested in a Duramax Sub. I'm sure you've heard that before, but come on GM!!!!!..........

Yea,We've been getting that a lot, I wish GM would build the DMAX/SUB. they would sell a ton of them (look how many Powerstroke Excursions are out there!)

but from what they keep telling us dealers "not yet",Rumor has it they might come out with a smaller version of the DMAX for the Sub. But I would think all they really have to do is raise the body up on it just like they do with the pickups (which is for clearance of the Allison Trans. and why the 8.1/Subs. don't have the Allison)and put the DMAX they got now in it

I was driven over to Ford because I wanted a full sized SUV with a diesel and many others are as well. I came back to GM after ford was forced to buy back my 03 6.0PSD Excursion and am now driving a gasser again. I'd have for sure taken a dmax in my Yukon XL 2500 if I'd have had the choice. But a smaller dmax would probably not interest me. I had an 01 dmax and it'd be hard to settle for a lesser version of it since that was such a fun, reliable motor that got very good mileage.
