Speaker replacement

Recommended Posts

Hey fellas,

I know that a few of you have replaced the speakers on your new style pickup.  I have some new speakers to put in, but I can't seem to figure out how to get the front door panels off.  Any tricks or tips out there?  I see that in the rear doors, I'm going to have to drill a few holes to mount the new 4x6's.  Anything else I should know?

Also, I haven't seen a Chilton's or Haynes around at any of the auto parts stores around here.  Are they out there for the new style trucks yet?

TIA,

Matt

You shoiuld have 3 or 4 screws to remove, you need to pop off the little piece in the upper corner, the window switches cover and the trim ring on the door lock slider then just lift up on it and off she should come. Speakers just pop out. Yes in the back you will need to drill 4 holes on ea. side. Nice thing is these are real easy to replace speakers.

1. you must remove the panel around the door handle, i think there may be a bolt in there you can take out.

2. you must remove the arm rest/console and dissconect the wire harness, there might be bolts under there also.

3. you must pry off the door locking switch and remove it, dont think there is a bolt here but check anyway.

4. you now should be able to pry around the edges with a scraper or butter kife and pop all the clips.

5. once the panel is off and you are holding it, you must disconnect the lighting harness for the courtesy lights or you will break it off  (you'll see what i mean).

if this doesnt work i can try and scan the instructions i used and email them to you, they have pictures also.
