well with 160,000 you have gotten most of it's life out of it. changing fluid will not hurt it's life but may not help any with that milage. Although if it's not making any noise and not abused, should last many more. Most people on here stress the importance of regular maint. As do I. If your gonna keep it definatly.

maximumrebel1, if you want some cheap power, this is actually a way to get it. If you watch Horsepower tv you have seen them use royal purple oil and have done dyno tests to show gains.

Its only a couple of ponies but its a couple more than you had.

The stuff is expensive but it is synthetic so you probably will never have to change it again.

lazy tonight, don't won't to goto the truck to get the manual, plus i think it goes by oil changes or something weird in there. what is the recomended miles to change the trans (manual), tranfer case, and the front and rear diffs?

Autozone won't carry Royal Purple but they have Mobil 1 which is also very good. I ordered my Royal Purple Max Gear from Jegs.com and it was something like $7/quart. The GM synthetic lube is $23/quart so I don't think you can say it's expensive, plus it's twice as good.

Oh ya that grape juice is a rip off. When I changed mine at 5K miles I just used Amsoil Series 2000 which for my 4 qts cost only a little more than 1qt of the GM stuff.

I am running Amsoil Synthtic in the front and rear diffs as well. Great product! Also changed the T-case fluid and Trans fluid to Amsoil. You can't go wrong running quality synthetics in your trucks powertrain components...

I am still running the grape juice in my front end as that only has like 4K miles on it, and was changed at like 4K by the dealer per TSB. When I change that I will use Amsoil as well. Still thinking about the TCase and Allison...
