Auto Door Locks on 99 Silverado

The automatic door locks are not working on my 99 Silverado, (the one that locks when you reach 25 MPH and unlock when you put it in PARK), they were like that when I bought it about a month ago. Does anyone know how to turn these back on. Thanks!

Do your locks lock if you use the switch? The BCM is what tells the locks to lock when the truck reaches 15-20 MPH. If the speedo is working ok then the BCM should be receiving the same data via the VSS wire. If the speedo works and the lock switches work then I would check the light blue wire at pin A4 on connector C1 of the BCM. That pin should have ground when the truck reaches 15-20 MPH. If it doesn't, I would suspect your BCM is bad.

Strange! I'm not sure if your truck is used or not, but the 99 models did not have the option of unlocking when you put the lever in park. They only lock after 15 mph or so. On my 99, you had to manually unlock the doors which was a pain in the a**. Of course I changed the BCM and now I can program my locks several different ways. The way I like it is the doors lock at 15mph, then unlock when you remove the key from the ignition.

The 99's did not have auto-lock. You can change the BCM to one from a later model to gain the auto-lock feature if you want like 99GMC Said. Or you could put in an alarm that has ignition activated door locks.

Yep, that's my 99 also. Got so used to it now though, it's like second nature. I think that the engineers were half drunk when they designed that BCM cause they made everything half work. I mean, not being able to turn the headlights off? Come on.(I made mine manual) The door locks at 15 mph, and you have no choice? Then it stays locked. D'oh!

I think they were half drunk when the designed the 99 Silverados in general. Thats just my opinion, Ive run into so many issues with electronics on my 99. Not sure about anyone else.

Thanks for the info guys! I'll have to do some research on the BCM you all are talking about. I usually hang out in the Corvette Forum and have come to know all the knicks and cranny's of my 96 Vette...hopefully I can get that way with my Silverado.

I see you're from Baton Rouge - you'll be too busy with Tiger football the next few months to work on your truck

I coach at Woodlawn...we are still trying to get on our feet this season. Hopefully we will find our balance against Lee this coming week since we lost to Parkview on Friday night. How about them Tigers tonight though? We will take them anyway we get 'em! Man it was a nail biter! I was there and saw it all!

Quite a game - the Tigers were very lucky to win. 3 missed extra points - are you kidding me? :flag:

Oh, yes, good luck with your team this year. My son goes to St. Stanislaus in Bay St. Louis, they are 1-1, look promising with a new QB, we'll see how it goes.

I remember a score from last year.

Oh yeah, GATORS 19 National Co-champs 7.

Just teasin'. I'm always for LSU, except when they play us.
