No tranny temp on my 03 Z71

I have an 03 Ext Z71 and was wondering about the tranny temp gauge. I see that some of the other gauges around have the tranny temp, mine is just blank.

 

If I buy another gauge cluster with the tranny temp gauge, will I need to do anything else? I would assume there is a harness connector in the dash for it, but would I need add a temp sensor anywhere?

 

If I can get a good enough deal on a different styled gauge set and mileage recalib, it may be worth it. (The stocker is just so..... plain.)

You can get the temp guage cluster and just plug it in and go. You will also either have to put the mileage sticker in the door or have it transfered to the new cluster. Thats it.

For ~$140, you can install the gauge yourself using a kit from US Speedo. The main advantages with your own installation are lower cost and no need to re-program your mileage (as opposed to installing an HD or Escalade cluster). I haven't seen an 'HD' or Escalade cluster on E-bay or any wrecking yard for less than $200, plus you have to consider the dealer cost to re-program the odometer.
