Notes from my own 100k mile self service (1999 Z-71, 5.3L):

1. Tranny oli/filter change: T-55 torx with WD40 and "cheater bar" popped plug loose with ease (NO stripping!!). To access pan bolts, disconnect shift cable BALL Stud and did NOT remove shift cable bracket. I used a clamp and bent it towards front differential yoke. Pan bolts torque is 97in-lbs or 11 n-m. AMSOIL ATF 5 qts. I alternate service with 12 qt flush.

2. Front differentia oil change: AMSOIL 80W-90 synthetic 2.1 qts. Dropped skid plate, drain through lower plug and filler up through top fill plug - very easy.

3. Rear differential oil change: AMSOIL 75W-90 synthetic 2 qts 7oz. Both drain plug and fill plug are 3/8" wratchet size. Fill between 5/8" and 1" from fill hole. I used an allen wrench and marked 5/8" and 1" on short side of wrench and stuck it in the fill hole. Again very easy process!

4. I have used 100% AMSOIL products for years including a Dual By-Pass oil filtration system. goto: www.amsoil.com, enter you vehicle year/make and get lots of info about you vehicle!

5. Spend $20 on a Chilton manual it is very helpful and full of facts! Good luck and thanks for everyone's thoughts and ideas!

P.S. I have Chaparral LT285/75r16 8 ply tires that run quite and smooth!
