Question for The Amp Man!

Alrighty, this is the amp I'll most likely be running...

MTX Thunder 895

I've got an older Thunder model, not sure the #, I'm too lazy to go look. It needs a small piece replaced, works fine just heats up too d**n fat, so I'm going to send it back w/ cash to "upgrade"

My cousin is a car audio "guru" I guess you would say, lol, but I figured I'd get questions answered first.

I'll be running all 5 channels most likely, maybe 3 for the most part though. It'll be powering two 6x9's, a single 10" sub just for some nice bass when I need it, and possibly my front 4x6"ers

I know this will be more than enough for what I need, since I just want to hear my 6x9's w/ clarity when I don't need a decent amount of bass, yet still have the power to get that bass when I want it.

But yeah, do you think it'd be fine running it w/ such, or could I even get a 4 channel? I just don't think I want to tae the hassle of running wires for the front speakers, although it could be worth it, because I want clarity over mostly anything else, unlike the kids at school with s**tty sounding bass, bah.

I'll either be running a single 10" Arc Audio KAR series sub, similar to the 2 12'as I had before, a 10" W3, or this awesome looking MB Quart sub LINK

I figured that last sub would give me the clarity I want w/ bass when I need it, what do you think? It should all be started faairly soon, so I want to git er done right!

If you amp the rears, and not the fronts, you will have HIGHLY imbalanced volume, making it sound like the crappy systems you are trying not to emulate.

If you have a 5 channel amp.....well...amp 5 channels.

but will your 4x6s handle 50 watts RMS? i've got twice the recommended power going to my alpines, but i've also got an external crossover to keep the lower frequencies from getting to them. and yes, i did see where the amp has a high pass x-over, but i dont trust the x-overs on amps

Also keep in mind it is actually easier to blow speakers with too little power than too much power.

And, yes, plates would be a better way to go!!

i've got alpine plates in my 91 single cab and they sound pretty good without an amp. of course you've got a little more cabin to fill than mine. if you could swing a good set of components to shoehorn in there your ears would thank you
