Wanting to upgrade to a 2500 Suburban

Hey friends...

Currently I have a 99' 1500 4x4 Sub and I want to upgrade to a new body style 4x4 2500 with a 6.0L. I have a few questions about towing capacity.

First off I know that the factory ratings are based off of a "Curb Weighted" vehicle.

What is the GCWR for a 2500 with 3.73 gears?

What is the GCWR for a 2500 with 4.10 gears?

What is it rated to tow with 3.73 gears?

What is it rated to tow with 4.10 gears?

What year was the cold start knock problem resolved?

Thanks

P.S. Does anyone know what the 7.3L PSD Excursions are rated for towing?

Here is a reply to myself and anyone else that is interested.

Here is the link for the Suburban tow ratings. (Click the trailering button) Doesn't include GCW. Anyone know what the GCW is for on the 2500?

Here is the link for the Excursion tow ratings. (PDF files)

Still would like to know what year the GM cold start know problem was resolved. Anyone??

I just bought a 2001 Sub 8.1 Vortec... Everyone told me the 6.0 is all the power you could need, including my uncle who tows a big 5th wheel camper. I'm SOOOO glad I got the big block. Like I always say, too much power is just enough. The fuel mileage is the same as my 1/2 ton sub with the 350 was. I'll say that again... THE SAME AS THE OLD SMALL BLOCK. Now, when I start seriously kicking it in the ass with a trailer on, I'm sure it will use some fuel, but that's exactly what I was looking for. (the power to pull fast in O.D.) 11.7 in short trip use and 13.8 on a recent 325 mile highway trip. I would have preferred a Dmax, but GM in their infinate wisdom doesn't offer it in a 'Burban. I watched the same scenario play out a few years ago. Two of my snowmobile buddies had new GM 3500SRW trucks. One had 5.7 and one had 7.4. The same fuel mileage time and again, loaded or not, but only one was blessed with with the yummy torque of the big block on tap. There's my .02.

Here is my input if you are considering an Excursion.

Friends of mine bought a new one a couple years ago. Very nice vechicle, but thiers had the 5.4 and was WAY underpowered. Also hit about 8 mpg with the wind at their back. When it was new, it rode and drove great, but as time went on, the ride and drive deteriorated quickly. At 45K miles, they had had several allignments, new shocks and new tires in an attempt to get the thing to drive and ride decent. At this point, the interior was starting to squeek and rattle like two old ladies about to hit the big one at Yatzee!

Needless to say, they got rid of the "rattle trap" as it was called and stepped back into GM.

Just food for thought.
