trans cooler install - stuck; need help

I purchased a B&M Supercooler this afternoon (24,000 gvw; #70264). Seems like a simple enought install, but I am stuck on mounting the cooler to the a/c condenser. I don't seem to have enough room to get my hand between the condenser and radiator to get the zip tabs through the condenser to mount the cooler. What's the trick? Is there another choice for mounting? Thought I was going to have it done in a snap...I should have know better.

Well, I figured out a solution. Let me know what you think. The B&M Supercooler has a 90 degeree flange on the bottom with some holes in the back of the flange (that mounts flush to the condenser, radiator, etc). On the truck, the support that holds the hood latch is like an inverted V and has a cross member down low. I mounted the cooler to the crossmember by drilling two holes in the crossmember and bolting it right up. As well, the hood latch assembly has some extra holes in it so I took a flat brace from the kit (about 6 inches long with about six holes; kinda like a brace that you use to hang an exhaust clamp) and used it to secure the top of the trans cooler. I mounted it cross ways (left hole in the latch assembly to the top right hole in the cooler flange). I shoulda taken some pictures, but of course it was getting dark. I did not have enough time to re-route the transmission lines. I'll take a couple of pics then (sometime this week).

 

So now my front "coolers" go like this: trans cooler, 2-3 inch space, condenser, 2-3 space, radiator. Maybe I will not loose nay performance out of the condenser having that space there.

Thats not gonna hurt a thing man. Thats where mine is mounted. Right to the v you mentioned. Plus I used 2 of the little steel straps that were in the kit. Youll be fine!! Just be sure you hook the coolers in a series. Top line from the radiator is the return line. Hook that top line to the cooler, then from the cooler to the stock cooler line. It did take me some time to set mine up so dont feel bad!

Oh, so the B&M cooler is in addition to the one in the radiator? I've always wondered that. So, the fluid goes through the cooler in the radiator and then through the aftermarket one and then back to the tranny? Huh! Learn something new every day. Does the kit come with all of the fittings and stuff?

The kit comes with everything you need. And the more I think about it, the better that mounting position sounds. Its like the cooler was made to fit in that spot. Where does the factory cooler mount?

Yea, run them in a series. Thats the way Ive seen most do it.
