Filters for the 8100

Its time for my first oil change on the truck.. What kinds of filters is everyone using for their 8100?? I normally use AC Delco but would like to see what everyone else is using.. Also, what is the correct AC Delco filter for this engine??

I'm using a NAPA gold, just because NAPA is the closest store to my house.....I like Bosche though. I hate FRAM, they would always leak on my blazer?????

I use mobile1 5w-30 oil and the mobile1 M1-111 oil filter. Costs a little more, but it seems to work fine. $29 for the oil, and $10 for the filter.

I use Mobil 1 5W30 with an AC Delco PF454 filter. Filter is $4.- at the GMC Dealer and the oil is $23.-/case of 6 qrt. at Costco.

I have a Duramax but I'm using a Baldwin filter on it. The study I read said they came on on top for efficiency and flow and they are built really well.

I've been told to use standard oil in the Big Blocks...people tell me they don't like the synthetic in them. Why?

 

I haven't changed oil yet...just 5,500 miles on my 8.1

 

Do have a Wix oil filter waiting on the bench.

Please tell me that you changed the oil before you put 5500 miles on it Any ways I use Royal Purple 5w30 with an AC Delco oil filter and have had no problem whatsoever and I love the Royal Purple, I use the stuff in everything.

02 2500avalanche: I'm doing exactly what the engine oil meter and manual are telling me to do. I'm doing this by the "book."

I'd stick with the AC Delco PF 454. As far as oil goes,if you want to use a non-syn,I'd use Pennzoil,Castrol,Havoline Supreme, or Chevron Supreme. I wouldn't use a 5-30,the 8.1 will probably use more of it than if you used a 10-30.

 

My truck gets an AC Delco PF454 with Pennzoil 10-30.
