JSJ Posted August 21, 2001 Posted August 21, 2001 I see that Performance has a couple of the black plastic bed rail caps for sale. I am thinking of getting a set and was wondering how they look on a truck? One is the Wade and looks like it will set on top and the other is a Bushwacker and looks like a raparound. My truck is not a 4X4 and the Wades look better to me in the picture. Comments please.
brax71 Posted August 21, 2001 Posted August 21, 2001 i had the bushwacker for about a week and a half. after that time, one of them blew right off and was never to be seen again. They didn't fit real well and i had to do some minor trimming; they were just 3-m taped down. overall, i wasted 85 dollars. save your money and get the metal ones.
gmcjoe Posted August 21, 2001 Posted August 21, 2001 I have the wade covers (see pic). I found out later GM makes covers used on the 3500 trucks. Part number is 12496453 { From Tom's website } Personally, I'd rather have the GM covers. They are about ? shipped. I paid ? for the wade covers, installed. MountaineerTom Posted August 21, 2001 Author Posted August 21, 2001 I had a set of the Bushwhackers and the holes for the stake pockets didn't line up. I never even installed them, I just returned them and got the GM caps. The GM ones are a little pricy, but I'm happy with them. Here's a pic. I had put the same reply over at PUTC before I seen it here.
Shaners Posted August 21, 2001 Posted August 21, 2001 Tom, I din't know "red" was an option for the GM-Trucks.com decal... LOL
MountaineerTom Posted August 21, 2001 Author Posted August 21, 2001 I colored it in with a magic marker. LOL j/k. Frank had a red one and asked it I wanted it and of course I said yes.
NewbieZ71 Posted August 22, 2001 Posted August 22, 2001 Tom, you know when people leave the military the job placement counselors want them all to read a book on careers called "What Color Is Your Parachute?" You won't have to.
DigUout Posted August 23, 2001 Posted August 23, 2001 I have the Bushwacker and wish I'd gone Dee Zee or a similar metal product. Mine is pretty darned stuck on there, I just think the plastic looks kinda chintzy-
SLambson Posted August 28, 2001 Posted August 28, 2001 Where are you guys picking up the GM bedcaps. I checked into them and normal retail is over ?. My brother works at the dealership and he could get them for ?. He said their cost is ? then they have to pay for shipping. Those bushwackers are looking might nice. I want the black plastic ones. White truck with lots of black stuff on it now.
JSJ Posted August 28, 2001 Posted August 28, 2001 Go to gmpartsdirect.com. I believe you can get them for just a little over ?. I went to my dealer with the part # and told him what I could order them for and he let me have them for ? plus tax. Good luck
MallCrawler Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 I resurrected an old topic to show that I did search first before asking... Does anyone know where I can find a nice set of stainless bed rail caps? I found a dee zee brand that seems okay, but I've never heard of them. Good, bad? http://www.realtruck.com/productline/1572/...caps.html#order $115 sticker price, plus $15 shipping, plus $17 bucks shipping plus $15 handling = $147
ws6_guy Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 I was going to go with Bushwackers caps, glad I didn't. Stick with GM products.
