40's as 90's on Temp mirror?

As the topic say's, my 40's show as 90's on my temp mirror.

I thought that the sendor was flawed or stuck, untill it dropped into the 30's fine.

I'm assumming the top first lamp is stuck on, or is this normal??? Second digit lamp show all numbers fine?

That is not "normal".

I think a trip to the dealer is in need. My mirror comp/temp has worked perfectly for over three years.

Does the read out say CAL down the left side of it??? Mine did this for a day a while back.....the compass was also out of whack. The next day I started my truck and it was normal again.....i blamed it on a worm hole.

Had the identical problem - take it to the dealer. It's not the sensor, the wiring or requiring calibration.

It's a supplier defect, the LCD display is not clearing the segments properly. It said 90 deg F outside one day when snow was coming down here in NJ.

Here's the part number for the replacement mirror: 15176974

If your dealership's giving you a hard time about things, let me know. I can send you a copy of the service record to prove this.

Thanks everyone...

Yea, Jim that's exactly what I thought. The segment is not clearing or down right stuck on.

Now I have to weigh the options, since I'm on an extended warrantee, and assuming they would approve it, I still have to come up with the 100 dollar deductible.

I'll have to call the dealer to see what the say.

BTW: The price through GMPartsdirect, $260! and list for $440!

Call around to your local salvage yards, you may be able to pick one up for less than your deductible.

There are several very good GM truck oriented used parts places within 10 miles of me, if you want me to check with them, PM me.

Dang, that's too bad. Fortunately I caught it within 4 months of owning my truck.

Don't know if this would fit (I think it should, looks identical), and cheaper than GMPartsdirect: http://www.jpcustoms.com/store/customer/pr...&cat=259&page=1

Too bad there's no way to get to the stupid thing's programming, I did assembly programs in college, this is probably a 1 line change in the code and it's fixed.

Edit - Ok, granted extended warranties are all good ( I have one) - but since this is a known supplier defect I think they should just replace it and charge their supplier T&M for it. Of course, my $0.02 doesn't go very far. If you feel like it call and complain to GM about it, maybe you'll get somewhere.
