electronic throttle control question

With the Electronic Throttle Control or 'Drive-by-wire' system on my '03 Silverado, is there a way to rev the engine from under the hood? I'm trying to determine where a certain noise is coming from and I need to increase the rpm a little. Anyone know how to do this without having someone in the cab?

No tech way would be to tie a small piece of nylon string (kite) to the pedal, run it to the firewall and loop around something there (not sharp) then run it towards your front driver seat and loop it through something to make it turn back towards the front of the truck, then through the crack in your door while its open and then to the front of the truck near the hood.
