Hood Question

Okay, not a disucssion of esthetics-not whether you like it or think is is stupid, but just a theory discussion. We can do a poll about stupid or not, or fake or not or wannabe or something later ;)

 

Anyway, I have seen several pics from trucks to SUVs that have taken HD hoods and placed them on the non-HD vehicles.  I can see where it would work with a little adjusting on a Chevy, but since the GMC has different grill/lights/hood, I don't see how it could be done. The GMC HD has a different hood, but what I am just wondering is about the Chevy HD to GMC non-HD application.

One can change the hood from HD to regular, but, need to change fenders.

 

Look at the upper rear of the fender where it meets the windshield corner, HD's have an extra metal to match the height of the hood. Regular hood and fenders are straight across at the junction. ;)

Sorry to say, but HD and LD fenders are the same.  It's a direct swap to put an Chevy HD hood on a Chevy LD truck and vice versa.  On the GMC, the HD and LD hood are the same.  To change a GMC LD to a Chevy HD hood would require new fenders since Chevy and GMC fenders are different at the nose.
