I just bought a new 04 HD. The window sticker states an automatic transmission upgrade for 1,095.00. What did I get compared to the stock one? And what's the deal with the recall? Is the upgrade toast or the stock one?

, you're reading too much into it. That "$1095 automatic transmission upgrade" got you a transmission that shifts itself. Compared to the "standard" one which requires you to change gears, which is included for the base price. I'm pretty sure that by law a dealer can't sell a new vehicle under recall without having the recall work performed first so you should be covered, but a simple call to your dealers service department with your VIN # will answer any such questions.

Right! I should have thought of that. It all happened so fast. I made a call on the spur of the moment to a high volume dealer about a hundred miles away. It was the last 04 they had and would get in. Very high rebate etc. It had every option I needed for my business. I grabbed an employee and we shot down there. Things were running sort of fast and furious because I needed to get back. But I remember something about an upgraded tranny blah blah blah. What he probably said was it's better than a 1/2 ton.

One thing I was surprised to see was an hour meter?!
