Fire Red (GMC) & Victory Red (Chevy)

My Fire Red '00 Sierra is the same color as a Victory Red Silverado, right?

The reason I ask is this: I recently decided to have the trim molding painted to match the other stuff (door handles, mirrors, front bumper cap) that has already been color matched. The thing is, the painted molding really stands out as being a different shade.

The same body shop has done all of this for me, using Victory Red paint. The painter acknowledges that the molding looks different and feels that it's due to the age of the body paint. He tells me that he can improve the overall color by shooting above and below the molding and blending the color. He's the expert here so I really want to believe him.

Here's the rub, though: he tells me that he thinks the truck looks a lot better without the molding and I don't know if he's telling me that because he really believes it or if he just doesn't have a high level of confidence that he can successfully blend the paint.

Although I'm kind of okay with taking the molding off completely, I 'think' I'd really like the color matched molding as I'd originally asked for. My concern is that if I have him go ahead and try to blend the color and then decide to remove the molding anyway, the color will be screwed up.

I know this is really a matter of personal preference, but I'd appreciate any thoughts you folks might have. What do you think?
