On Star - Red Light

2004 Suburban – The red light is now on continuously for the rear view mirror On Star system. Called On Star, they did a remote electronic test and say it is a problem with the antenna. Anyone else have this problem and how did you fix it? I know it is under warranty but I’m trying to save a trip to the dealer (PITA) if there is a simple fix

I suggest you leave the system alone and have it fixed. Even if you dont subscribe the system Onstar is required by the law to respond if you have an accident. You never know if you might get in an accident and be knocked out and hurt badly.

onstar on my 03 yukon had the red light on and took to the dealer and turned out to be a bad onstar unit. they replaced it and now it works fine. the down side was they had to order the part and it took long time (i mean long a** time) to get it. i agree with redvett and take your truck to the dealer to get it fixed.

I've had the red light a few times, but I called Onstar and said everything was working properly, when I hung up it was green again. Go figure, maybe they got lonely and needed someone to talk to.

Update - took it to the dealer and they found a wiring problem. It’s fixed now.
