lifting the Avalanche

Looking for my options to "level" my Av. It's a Z66 and the Torsions will not travel enough to get it level.

Rancho has a kit but they want $3k. I would suspect I can find a "reasonable" price for a decent lift?

Has anyone "leveled" their AV yet? If so will you share with me some suggestions? It appears to sit higher in the back (stink-bug) so I guess the front-end is where all the work would go.  I have a $300 credit from a Xmas Present that will go towards this.

Thanks

Make sure you lift w/ the knees  :)  :D

How much lift are you trying to get out of it?  If you want to go 4" get the rancho.  If you just want a level look I bet the hill4wheeldrive t-bar keys would work on it since the share the same components as the trucks.

I have not a clue about the "hill" leveling thing. Can you guys give me some more insight.

I read a bit about the performance accessories "body lift". This sounded like it would "fit the bill" for what I want to accomplish. I went to their site but didn't get very far with their "contact us" page.

Thanks for the replies.

Well, I want to run some 33's on my truck and after saving for a rancho suspension lift I know it'll never happen.  So, I'm going to put on a 3" body lift come summer.  That's one route to go.  If you want to run some 285's you can crank your t-bars which didn't give you the desired effect so you have two more solutions:

Hill 4 Wheel Drive Leveling Kit:  Cost is about 150 I think.  What this is, is new T-Bar Keys that allow you to crank the bars up higher w/o bottoming out the key.  Adverse effects are increased CV angles so the front end will wear out sooner.  Also, more load is put on the T-Bars so they will sag sooner.  Also the front end ride will stiffen.  I would recommend an allignment after you do this.  Also, I wouldn't try go to more than 1-1/2" because you will put your CV's in a bad angle

Heavier Rated T-Bars:  Cost is about 250 and you will also need an allignment when you're done.  These allow you to get the same height when you crank them, but w/ more threads exposed on the bars.  Same downsides as the Hill4wd kit, but IMO this is the way to go.

A few guys have the leveling kit, redsierra, is one member I can think off of the top of my head.

Brad,

I had my avalanche leveled off and all i had done was has the Torsion Bars re clocked they removed the bars and re clocked them the ride is the same and the truck is level. I had my buddy at Big O Tires in Norco Ca (so Cal) do the job and it worked out well if i can help you out let me know.
