Well if oil is coming from the tail pipe its prolly not good. If yur lucky it just a sticking valve and its sucking oil past the valve stem seal. That would be best case. You may want to check your PCV valve it might be stuck causing pressure in the crank case pushing oil past a worn set of rings. Just some thought there are other opinions im sure

Yikes! :seeya:

If a thrown rod is your idea of "semi loud tapping" I'd hate to hear what it would take for you to descibe it as banging. :flag:

At least you've still got you're sense of humor.

Tapping or Banging? Tapping could be a collapsed lifter, 8 oz of tranny fluid in the oil for about 1 week then change the oil. Yes tranny fluid is bad for an engine, but it will thin out the oil enough to clean small holes to allow the passage of oil. The oil coming out of the tail pipe has me stumped. Do a compression check to see if you can isolate a bad chamber. Remove the valve covers and hand check the valves, and springs. See if one is stuck open. The other option here could be a leaky valve seal. Just a few ideas.

Yes the moral of this story is don't let your little brother drive your truck when you have an oil leak!

It was low on oil and he took it for a long drive, windows up playing loud music, says he never heard the motor making any noise till it died - guess he never noticed the oil guage w/ 0 presure! :(
