Don't know if this may help or not, but my sister had a Ford Explorer, yeah I know FORD, but my little niece stuck a penny in the tape deck & the radio kept saying "BAD", as soon as I foudn the penny & took it out, it was fixed. Don't know if you have kids or not, buy you may want to check if something foriegn is in the tape deck. Hope this helps.

I have a 2001 suburban with the factory cd player (tape deck in console and rear aux. controls) The display just says "Loc" and nothing works. Anyone no whats up with that....??

That almost sounds like it has gone into theft lock. The nav radios act the same way and display Theftlock.

Did you have a dead battery or pulled the power? The radio is in theftlock mode. It will not work until you enter the 3 or 4 digit code to unlock the radio.

Here is the procedure:

Make sure you pause no more than 15 seconds in between each step.

Ensure that the code to be used is correct.

1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

2. Press MN and 000 will appear

3. Press MN again until the last 2 digits agree with your code

4. Press HR until the first digit agrees with your code

5. After you matched your code, press AM/FM to confirm the code. The radio should have SEC. This should be in good working condition now.

Entering the wrong code will show as INOP.

Here is how to extract an unknown code:

1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

2. Press and hold the radio preset buttons 2 and 3 for approximately 8 seconds until the first 3 digits of the backup code are displayed on the radio.

3. Record the displayed code.

4. Press and hold the AM/FM push button until the second 3 digits are displayed on the radio.

5. Record the displayed code.

6. Contact Delco service for code.

If you don't have or don't know the code, it might be best to contact a dealer.

Good luck with the dealer. The extracted code does not give you the stored code that you put in. It has to be deciphered to give you the universal unlock code for that particular radio.
