Exhaust upgrade

Im thinking of upgrading the exhaust on my truck. Im not really wanting a preformance exhaust. But, something that sounds mean. What y'all suggest?

Flowmaster all the way, get a 40 series flowmast that has 3" inlet (chevy your pipe size, may not be the same) and dual 2.5" outlets. It's the only way to go, it gives you a nice rumble w/o being too annoying in the cab.

I plan on going with flowmaster 40's when I can get the money. Jeff has them on his truck and sounds awesome. Best of all right know truck performance has a deal going on. Free shipping of orders $300 or more and 5% off the price. If I could get them it would cost me around $330.

Jon, did you order the 40's seperately? I looked at the site where you bought yours. All they show for my truck are the 30 series and 70 series with the Flowmaster ehaust systems.

I would go with a Flowmaster 40 series. If you read one of my previous posts, you will find out just how loud they are. They sound great, and of course, they set off car alarms

With all this exhaust talk, does anyone one know if there is an exhaust system where the exit of the exhaust is in front of the wheels on the passenger side? Hate to talk ford, but the sme type of exit you see on the Lightnings?

Madfish, mine is the american thunder series and came w/ a 40 series. I'm pretty sure it's a 40 series, now you have me wondering, I'll double check and get back to you tomorrow.

As for bringing them out in front of the tires, I know a company (borla i think) makes the sport truck side swept exhaust that has duals that dump before the passenger rear tire. I don't think it's possilbe to get one that will go on both sides becasue the gas tank is there.

I am real happy with my Flowmaster! I have a 70 series single 3inch in and dual 2.25 out. It has a real deep tone on acceleration and quiets to a slight rumble on the highway. I have the American Thunder series from Flowmaster. I didn't know anything about it when I bought it, I just wanted something loud. I'm pretty sure mine has a 50 series muffler.

I've plugged this several times, so what is one more? Shortly after crossing over the axle the tubes stop and you attach the Stainless Steel sections that continue out the back. I love that cause I think big tips on a small pipe looks tacky.

It was really easy to put on. Me and a buddy did it in the driveway. The only tools I needed were a hacksaw and a socket set.

You can always hear mine if it will help you decide.

Tahoejeff, how much did it cost you(ballpark) to get your exhaust made? I was thinking about buying the muffler and tips. Then letting a guy I know who owns a exhaust/trans shop build the rest around them. He built the exhaust for my old Camaro and it sounded pretty dang good. Only cost me $175 for everything from the headers back.
