Vibration

Im getting a vibration coming from the rear of my truck after 45 mph. still there when in 3, d, or coasting. Balancing weights are on the rear wheels and driveshaft. I just installed a new rear end with a detroit locker but i dont think this has anything to do with it. the u joints seem to be fine. but i can move the extension that comes out of the bell housing of the transmission, basically its not solid. any body have any ideas what this involves?

sound like a pitch angle issue, check your drive line angle. from what I remember it should be 1/2" + or - but not the same.

Not a 100% on this, maybe someone else can chime in

Sorry, there should be some play in the trans yoke for driveline rear end movement up and down

From my expirence, a vibration from the rear could be either the rear itself, or the rims. One way to check the rims is to rotate the tires, if the vibration moves to the front, you have a tire or rim problem. If this problem started just after you added the rear, I would look in that direction for a c-clip put in the wrong place or something of that nature (assuming you replaced the diff only), if you replaced the entire rear, then I agree with Stocklook, the problem may be in the angle of the rear. If it was made for the truck, then it should have some type of alingment pins to keep it in the right place. Is the truck lifted or stock? Did you replace the Diff or the whole rear end? Need more info to help.

i had a problem similar to that and it turned out on my car all i did was check to see that the u joint bearings hadnt collapsed and installed the drive shaft 180 degrees around.
