Crew Cab Owners

A local dealership has a 2002 CC DMAX ALLI with the LS package with 27,000 miles. The only problem that I have with the truck is that it is a Long Bed. I am going from a Standard Cab..... To a Crew Cab Long Bed .

Anyone have any suggestions?

Any comments about your own ownership experience.....

I have a 2004 CCLB with 8 inches of lift and 37's under her, and I would have it no other way. Pro's- hall everything in that 8 foot bed, and have room for 5-6 of your friends in the cab, looks killer with a lift, and you seem to get a little more respect from the shorter guys. Con's-truck weighs nearly 3 tons, takes up two parking spots, and you got to swing it wide around bends like a city bus. Go for it!

That is funny.... I am going to put my hummer rims and 33's under it at the dealership if I get it. I think that it will look tough with the bigger tires and wheels.

Come on Crew Cab owners lets get some opinions.

I've got a CC dually and a single cab dually. The long one takes a bigger parking spot, but I love them both.

No complaints here for the CC, execpt when I try to get in the back door to drive, cuz I forget that there is 4!

If you are planning on putting the truck in your garage make sure it is long enough to accept the big truck.

Pros: I love the extra cab room to haul my family and friends...

Cons: My friends love the extra cab room too, so it seems like I always end up driving!!!

Pros: Lots of extra room for people, pets, luggage, anything you can imagine. Four doors make it nice. Alot higher resale value. A truck that is practical for a family. Smoother ride. More options available. Add-ons(DVD for rear etc) are ready available.

Cons: Hard to park. Reduced visibility. Heavier(less power to the feel unloaded). Unmanuverable in the mountains( if you hunt driving through windy treed roads are impossible). Almost usless in 2WD where I live in the winters( too much on the front end and too light on the rear).

Just my opinion. Finally, I would not own another regular cab. The Pros definately outweigh the cons.

I LOVE my CC! I would not have it any other way, good people hauler (it's become our family vehicle) and with the bed you can hull just about everything. I have a SB because I would not utilize the 8 footer with what I need, plus when I take the trailer out, it can be hard to manuver into tight spots (the races). What ever you do, you will be happy with the CC.

I should add, we just had our first snow, and my friend plows with his new CC SB and has a Leer Cap on the truck (looks great). Anyway, only had the truck one month, and misjudged a curve in a driveway while backing up, and now has to get a new bed because he hit the mother of all driveway lamp post. OUCH!

SO, only drawback could be visibility, with a cap, I run a tonneau cover and see just fine.

I have been looking into the Crew Cab for a while. I drove one last night and cant imagine having all the extra room that they give!

As of now I have it narrowed down to 2 choices....

2002 DMAX/ALLI LS Model with 25000 miles with Long Bed (Black)

2003 DMAX/ALLI LT Leather Loaded 40,000 miles Short Bed (Black)

Dont know what I would like better, the less miles or the more plush vehicle.

I know I would love the loaded one... But that is a little more cash..

This is my first CC and I don't think I will ever have anything else.

Pro's -

- Plenty of room for everything and everyone.

- You can get in and out of the rear without having the front door open.

- Better resale

Con's -

- No parking lot friendly unless you go to Lowe's or Home Depot

- Visibility is tough at first, but you get used to it

My .02 on your decision.....

I would go with the leather (which I did) because it is much easier to keep clean. Cloth interiors, in a work truck, make no sense because of the way they attract and hold dirt. The same is true if you have kids.

They wanted the 15,000 plus 19,000 + TAX so another 20,000

35000 for the truck

I was blown away to say the least..... There was about 5 minutes of dead silence and then I said "You have to be kidding me". No dealing No Nothing...

He said that they had had it for about 4-5 Weeks! Now I know why!!!

These dealers just love to see your jaw drop! I think they get a kick out of it. Anyway, Kelly blue book shows the CC you listed at about $33000, if yours is a HD long bed, Kelly says trade in for yours in excellent shape would be about $17000. Those figures are only about two to three thousand off per vehicle (quote was based on my zip code), I would go back and beat them up some more about the prices if you really want the truck. But remember, these big boys aint cheap!

Uhhh pros: Why would you have a back seat and not have real doors for it???

Cons: Maybe parking.....but I can park my truck anywhere. The way I look at it....if you can park in an airport parking garage at christmas.....you can park it anywhere.

I went from a 2001 2500HD ext cab 8.1 Allison 4x4 with 8' bed to a 2003 2500HD crew cab 8.1 Allison 4x4 with a 6' bed. All I can say is I sure miss the extra 2' in bed length.
